Dios

Daily Devotional (From Carpet to Hardwood)

image

Did you know that you can be so careful with life that you will not accomplish much?  Some of us are struggling with a first aid kit mentally.  A mentality that says, "I will never take risks." "As long as I stay in my bubble I will never get hurt." Hmmm...I wonder is this wisdom or fear?

I know that risk can be risky and fearful at times but some risk is necessary for success.  We must be able to face disappointments and know that we have done our best. Not only this but we must trust God enough that when we have done our best He will reward us for it.

Just like babies when they are learning how to walk they take risk. My daughter is so daring right now. She will probably jump from our arms if we would let her because she is motivated to succeed and start walking (she hasn't truly processed fear yet at only eight months).

I believe we need to at times take a babies approach to fear and disappointment. We need to take calculated risk. Now let me clarify...I am not talking about having an affair or robbing a bank or anything crazy like that.

But I am talking about turning 50 and getting your GED, finding life again after divorce or starting a business in your 30's, continuing to press forward after you and your husband have had a miscarriage and trust God to bring forth that family, saving your marriage even when it looks like the bottom is about to fall out.

2Timothy 4:7 says, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." Also 1 Peter 5:6-7 says,"Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you."

So if we will always walk on carpeted floors we can never discover the beauty of Hardwood...  I hope this helps... God bless!!!

Why Happiness Alone Can't Sustain You!

image

One of the happiest moments in life was when I realized that life was not defined by happiness but by joy in Jesus. -The Blueprint-

Happiness is such a controversial word in my opinion because many people find themselves imprisoned by the meaning of this word. Truly if we were to analyze happiness we would realize that it is a state of being not an absolute. Happiness is circumstantial at best.

Consequently, it is a feeling solely based on conditions but it is never concrete. If you were to show me 5 people that were happy...I could show you 5 more that said sometime in the day they were happy also but because of difficulty of events or circumstances out of their control they are no longer happy.

Happiness is an emotion that is always changing. It lacks depth and the deeply planted roots needed in order to build a stable foundation upon.   What do you mean?  Thanks for asking... Happiness says in essences if I feel happy today, if everything around me is conducive to my happiness, then guess what?... I feel happy today. But by some chance my circumstances don't provide me an atmosphere that is conducive to my happiness. ..then somebody better watch out, now I am on the warpath because I am not happy today.

Happiness is predicated on condition not facts.
We may not feel happy today but God is still good. Fact not condition.

Consider this? We can wake up in the morning and hear the birds chirping,  the angels singing because we feel happy today.  However, if life hands us a plate of disappointments then there is a good chance that we will no longer feel happy. That is chilling right? We can't build our proverbial houses on happiness because eventually they will colasp.

The conditions of life can and will alter our attitudes and possibly rob us of our happiness if we will allow our feelings to dictate to us the direction for our lives. The seesaw, (The Feeling of Happiness) has claimed many marriages, friendships and has weakend our relationships with God because the feeling of euphoria that was once present when we received Jesus is no longer there.

Have you ever heard people say, "I don't feel saved or we have just fallen out of love?" Can I say this? Love and Salvation are not feelings they are choices. We choose to love our spouses or not. We choose to live submitted and consecrated lives to God or not.

Nehemiah had to remind the Israelites when Ezra was reading the word of God that it wasn't a time to weep but it was a time to rejoice. He had to remind them that their strength was found in the joy of the Lord and that His words are spirit and they are alive.

We too must realize that when I am happy God has my back, when my enemies are present God has my back and when I am feeling sad God has my back.   We must realize that we are not defined by our happiness. When we dont feel happy we are still strong because we have His joy, evelasting joy! It doesn't matter about our conditions because God never, ever changes, he is always absolute.

Nehemiah 8:10 kjv

If God Doesn't Exist Then Shut-up About It!

image
One day a man asked me, "Why should I believe in God?"...And my response was, "If you are asking me, then you already do!" -Fuel ⛽-

I have been pummeled, haggled and disrespected about a God that I care so much about. But the problem with this is I don’t understand my opponents. They cry about the spread of the Christian message. I have heard non believers say, those people knocking at their door talking about, “Don’t you know that Jesus loves you?’ I will release my dog on them." I have seen post saying Efff your religion, Jesus doesn’t exist, the Bible is a mystical book of mythology, I don’t believe in sin, don't bring that crap to me.

What are you trying to prove? And who are you trying to prove this too?

I can’t type God on the computer without it trying to marginalize my reality (God written in a little g…). Some sites won't let you captalize the "J" in the name Jesus...Is that not censorship?

So if God doesn’t exist in your life then shut up about it. Why do I have to be bombarded with hate about my God to pacify your incredulity? Why do we always (Christians) have to acquiesce to small minded ideas.

If you want to be Godless then that’s your problem. You won’t change your beliefs and I want change mine. But I will treat you with respect, kindness showing you the love of Jesus Christ. But when I say Jesus loves you or turn away from sin, Jesus is the truth, the way and the life and you will die and go to hell WITHOUT HIM…just know it is not said in disrespect.

Why should Christians who bring a living and loving message about a merciful and kind God have to be disrespected , because you are insecure and feeling guilty about a God that doesn’t exist.

Hmmmm….makes you wonder what you are really mad about….
